National Institutes of Health (NIH) Awards Fusion PPT $14M Support Services Contract
Fusion PPT announced today that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded the firm a prime support services contract valued at over $14M to deliver a range of Chief Information Officer (CIO) technology support services.
NIH institutes deliver a broad range of technology and business support services including forecasting future IT needs around cloud computing, executing IT policies and procedures, defining and implementing IT management strategies, overseeing information and systems security, and monitoring the daily operation of infrastructures.
As a recognized leader in innovative IT solutions, Fusion PPT’s knowledge and unbiased guidance will help the NIH to address critical mission and operational needs, in several task areas, spanning enterprise architecture, quality assurance and performance monitoring, IV&V, and information technology operation and security policy. Fusion PPT will act as an independent, and trusted advisor to the CIO office evaluating and testing functionalities in new and existing tools, to make sure that solution architectures meet the institute’s strategic goals, customer requirements, and security requirements. Fusion PPT will also enable the efficient delivery of innovative solutions to institute staff and clients.
“Our goal is to integrate three critical processes – enterprise architecture, IV&V, and IT security operations – supported by project management, acquisition, and quality assurance activities, to ensure that solution architectures fulfill mission needs, meet rigorous security requirements, and are verified and validated on an-ongoing basis against customer requirements,” CEO Michael Biddick commented. “As a vendor-independent and objective IT expert, with a history of successful, similar projects, Fusion PPT is in an ideal position to assist NIH in realizing their IT goals.”
As a part of these task areas, Fusion PPT will also perform activities such as:
- Examine how public and hybrid cloud applications may operate within the NIH environment
- Examine cloud application migration and application rationalization opportunities
- Establish a comprehensive, tailored IV&V program, including integration testing
- Develop and execute analysis of alternatives (AoA) and market research for new products
- Solution architecture guidance and review
- Recommendation of pilot program process and management of product/service pilots
- Strategic security plan and development
- Security systems authorizations and continuous monitoring activities
Fusion PPT Biddick cited this support services contract as a key milestone for Fusion PPT. “We are excited to have an opportunity to work with stakeholders at the NIH,” remarks Biddick. “We are committed to helping our clients find solutions that are the best-fit for their critical mission needs, and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to this critical program.”

About the National Institutes of Health
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is the nation’s medical research agency—making important discoveries that improve health and save lives.
Thanks in large part to NIH-funded medical research, Americans today are living longer and healthier. Life expectancy in the United States has jumped from 47 years in 1900 to 78 years as reported in 2009, and disability in people over age 65 has dropped dramatically in the past 3 decades. In recent years, nationwide rates of new diagnoses and deaths from all cancers combined have fallen significantly.
NIH is the largest source of funding for medical research in the world, creating hundreds of thousands of high-quality jobs by funding thousands of scientists in universities and research institutions in every state across America and around the globe.
NIH is made up of 27 Institutes and Centers, each with a specific research agenda, often focusing on particular diseases or body systems. NIH leadership plays an active role in shaping the agency’s research planning, activities, and outlook. To learn more about NIH, click here.
